Taxonomy
Donax tellinella was named by Lamarck (1806) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Elliptotellina tellinella by Tracey et al. (1995); it was recombined as Tellina (Elliptotellina) tellinella by Cossmann and Pissarro (1904) and Le Renard and Pacaud (1995).
