Taxonomy

Nucula galeottiana was named by Nyst (1843) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Leda (Lembulus) galeottiana by Cossmann and Pissarro (1904); it was recombined as Leda galeottiana by Glibert (1933); it was recombined as Nuculana (Saccella) galeottiana by Glibert and van de Poel (1965) and Glibert (1985).
