Tellina agilis was named by Stimpson (1857) [DISTRIBUTION: Plesitocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was corrected as Tellina agilia by Coch (1971); it was recombined as Angulus agilis by Hendy et al. (2008).
