Perissoptera was named by Tate (1865) [Sepkoski's age data: K Haut T Dani Sepkoski's reference number: 909].

It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); to Aporrhaidae by Kase (1984) and Vega et al. (2006); and to Arrhoginae by Kollmann (2009).
