Pecten kaneharai was named by Yokoyama (1926) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Japan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Chlamys kaneharai by Hatai and Nisiyama (1952); it was recombined as Chlamys (Mimachlamys) kaneharai by Kafanov et al. (2001); it was recombined as Mimachlamys kaneharai by Hendy (2007).
