Leda taphria was named by Dall (1896) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Eastern Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Nuculana taphria by Grant, IV and Gale (1931), Valentine (1956) and Kern (1973); it was recombined as Nuculana (Saccella) taphria by Hertlein and Grant (1972), Moore (1983) and Huber (2010); it was recombined as Nuculana (Jupiteria) taphria by Coan et al. (2000); it was recombined as Saccella taphria by Woodring and Bramlette (1950), Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012) and Hendy (2021).
