Ostrea eldridgei was named by Arnold (1907) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Miocene; Eastern Pacific.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Crassostrea eldridgei by Addicott (1973); it was recombined as Pycnodonte (Crenostrea) eldridgei by Moore (1987).
