Taxonomy
Delphinus dubius was named by Cuvier (1812) [Type locality unknown (Hershkovitz, 1966).]. It is extant. Its type specimen is MNHM unnumbered specimen, a skull.

It was synonymized subjectively with Delphinus euphrosyne by Nilsson (1847); it was recombined as Prodelphinus dubius by Trouessart (1904); it was recombined as Stenella dubia by Hershkovitz (1966); it was considered a nomen dubium by Rice (1998).
