Dosinia pertenuis was named by Gabb (1864) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene; Pacific Coast, North America.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Venus pertenuis by Gabb (1869) and Waring (1917); it was recombined as Venus (Chione) pertenuis by Anderson (1905); it was recombined as Clementia pertenuis by Schenck and Keen (1940); it was recombined as Clementia (Egesta) pertenuis by Addicott (1973).
