Taxonomy
Chione whitneyi was named by Gabb (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene; Pacific Coast, North America.]. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Dosinia (Dosinidia) whitneyii by Clark (1918); it was recombined as Dosinia whitneyi by Addicott (1972); it was recombined as Dosinia (Dosinia) whitneyi by Moore (1963) and Addicott (1973).
