Taxonomy
Pecten (Plagioctenium) andersoni was named by Arnold (1906) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene; Pacific Coast, North America.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mount Diablo, 3 miles south, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in California.

It was recombined as Pecten andersoni by Arnold (1909); it was recombined as Pecten (Pecten) andersoni by Trask (1922); it was recombined as Pecten (Aequipecten) andersoni by Grant and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Aequipecten andersoni by Adegoke (1969); it was recombined as Pacipecten andersoni by Moore (1984).
