Cardium (Trachycardium) vaquerosensis was named by Arnold (1908) [DISTRIBUTION: Early-Middle Miocene; Pacific coast, North America.]. Its type specimen is USNM 165457, a valve (imperfect right valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Cardium vaqueroense by Anderson (1911); it was recombined as Cardium vaquerosensis by Clark (1918); it was recombined as Trachycardium vaquerosense by Adegoke (1969); it was recombined as Trachycardium (Trachycardium) vaquerosensis by Moore (2003); it was recombined as Dallocardia vaquerosense by Hendy (2020).
