Taxonomy
Lucina excavata was named by Carpenter (1857) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Oligocene-Recent; California-Mexico.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Lucina (Here) excavata by Gabb (1866); it was recombined as Here (Here) excavata by Moore (1988); it was recombined as Here excavata by Addicott (1973) and Coan et al. (2000).

Synonyms
  • Lucina (Here) richthofeni was named by Gabb (1866) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenozoic; Pacific coast, North America.]. It is not a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Phacoides richthofeni by Arnold (1907); it was recombined as Phacoides (Here) richthofeni by Loel and Corey (1932); it was synonymized subjectively with Here (Here) excavata by Moore (1988).
