Nucula semiornata was named by d'Orbigny (1846) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Recent; Argentina.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Nucula (Nucula) semiornata by da Silva Forti (1969) and del Rio (1992); it was recombined as Nucula (Lamellinucula) semiornata by Clavijo et al. (2005) and Huber (2010).
