Taxonomy
Augustoceras shideleri was named by Flower (1946). Its type specimen is UC 24290, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Belk Island, which is in a Maysvillian shallow subtidal wackestone in the Leipers Limestone Formation of Kentucky.
