Lambis was named by Röding (1798) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 1074]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Strombidae by Ladd (1972) and Wilson (1993); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
