Paraproetus warburgae was named by Pribyl (1964). It is the type species of Stenoblepharum.

It was recombined as Stenoblepharum warburgae by Owens (1973) and Owen (1981).

Synonyms
  • Proetus convexus was named by Warburg (1925) [Lectotype designated by Owens (1973)]. Its type specimen is UM D53 and is a 3D body fossil.

    It was replaced with Paraproetus warburgae by Přibyl (1964); it was replaced with Stenoblepharum warburgae by Owens (1973).
