Taxonomy
Macrocheilus symmetricus was named by King (1844). Its type specimen is U.C.G. D819B, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Eulima symmetrica by Howse (1848) and Howse (1857); it was recombined as Turbonilla symmetrica by Geinitz (1861); it was recombined as Soleniscus symmetricus by Reed (1944); it was recombined as Macrochilina symmetrica by Pattison (1967); it was recombined as Meekospira symmetrica by Pattison (1977), Hollingworth and Barker (1991), Mazaev (2015) and Mazaev (2018).
