Incisiini was named by Grant (1976) [Nom. transl. Brunton et al. (1995, p. 927) from Incisiidae Grant (1976)]. Its type is Incisius.
It was assigned to Marginiferinae by Williams et al. (2000); and to Overtoniinae by Shen et al. (2003).
