Pleurotomaria portlockiana was named by de Koninck (1844). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Mourlonia portlockiana by de Koninck (1883); it was recombined as Gosseletina portlockiana by Batten (1966); it was recombined as Nemaspira portlockiana by Mazaev (2021).
