Taxonomy
Palasterina kinahani was named by Baily (1878). It is not extant. Its type specimen is GSI S1439. It is the type species of Uranaster.

It was recombined as Uranaster kinahani by Gregory (1899), Schöndorf (1910), Schuchert (1915) and Spencer (1916); it was recombined as Petraster kinahani by Owen (1965), Spencer and Wright (1966) and Dean Shackleton (2005).
