Taxonomy
Helcionella oblonga was named by Cobbold (1921). Its type locality is Ba1, Comley Quarry, which is in an Arcadian marine shale/sandstone in the Upper Comley Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Ginella oblonga by Rozanov et al. (1969); it was recombined as Ilsanella oblonga by Wagner (2023).
