Taxonomy
Eocursor was named by Butler et al. (2007). Its type is Eocursor parvus. It was considered monophyletic by Butler (2010).

It was assigned to Ornithischia by Butler et al. (2007), Butler (2010) and Han et al. (2012); and to Heterodontosauridae by Madzia et al. (2018).
