(1984), Prothero and Schoch (1989), Winans (1989), Schultz (1990), Kelly (1995), Kelly (1997) and MacFadden (1998); it was synonymized subjectively with Hippotigris by McGrew (1944) and Mooser (1958); it was reranked as Equus (Plesippus) by Howe (1970) and Forsten and Eisenmann (1995); it was synonymized subjectively with Equus (Dolichohippus) by MacFadden and Waldrop (1980).
