Taxonomy
Anachis (Costoanachis) stibara was named by Woodring (1964) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene; Panama]. Its type specimen is USNM 643634, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Woodring Loc. 136 - Sabanita [lower Gatun Fm], which is in a Tortonian marine sandstone in the Gatun Formation of Panama.
