Dromomeron was named by Irmis et al. (2007). It was considered monophyletic by Nesbitt (2011).
It was assigned to Dinosauromorpha by Irmis et al. (2007) and Martínez and Alcober (2009); to Lagerpetidae by Nesbitt et al. (2009), Nesbitt (2011), Martínez et al. (2016), Griffin and Nesbitt (2016), Marsh (2018) and Martz and Small (2019); and to Lagerpetidae by Müller et al. (2023).
