Struthiolaria was named by Lamarck (1816) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 728]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Struthiolariidae by Marwick (1929), Gazdzicki and Pugaczewska (1984) and Beu (2010).
