Echmatemys callopyge differs from other Echmatemys by the following combination of characters: no contact between vertebral I and marginal II, pleural I laterally covering the nuchal, entoplastron covered by both gulars and pectorals, femorals medially much shorter than anal scutes, anterior and posterior lobes well-rounded, and a narrow and rounded anal notch.|
