Trochus lucasianus was named by Brongniart (1823) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene-Oligocene; Italy, Bulgeria, France, Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Trochus (Lamprostoma) lucasianus by Oppenheim (1900); it was recombined as Trochus (Tectus) lucasianus by Vredenburg (1928); it was recombined as Tectus lucasianus by Karagiuleva (1964), Karagiuleva (1964), Harzhauser (2004) and Harzhauser et al. (2009).
