Xenochelys formosa

Taxonomy
Xenochelys formosa was named by Hay (1906) [catalog number of type not given by Hay, but given by Hutchison 1991]. Its type specimen is AMNH 1097, a shell (nearly complete shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quinn Draw (Lower Titanotherium Beds), which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Chadron Formation of South Dakota. It is the type species of Xenochelys.
