Taxonomy
Tectarius was named by Valenciennes (1832) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m R Sepkoski's reference number: 914]. It is extant. Its type is Tectarius coronatus.

It was assigned to Tectariinae by Wilson (1993); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Littorinidae by Ladd (1966), Abbass (1967) and Harzhauser (2007).
