Cerithium ighinai was named by Michelotti (1861) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Italy, Iran, Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Ptychocerithium ighinai by Sacco (1895); it was recombined as Cerithium (Ptychocerithium) ighinai by Vredenburg (1928) and Harzhauser (2004).
