Aquila lydekkeri
Taxonomy
Aquila lydekkeri was named by Shufeldt (1913) [type is a composite set of "edentate mammal" and avian fragments, of which Wetmore 1933 selected one element as the lectotype]. Its type specimen is A. M. 5165, a limb element (fragmentary bit of a tibio-tarsus), and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Protostrix lydekkeri by Wetmore (1933), Wetmore (1937), Wetmore (1940), Wetmore (1956) and Rich (1982); it was synonymized subjectively with Minerva antiqua by Olson (1985).
