Turritella venus was named by d'Orbigny (1852) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene-Early Miocene; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Turritella (Haustator) venus by Baldi (1973), Harzhauser and Mandic (2001) and Harzhauser (2004).
