Triceratops prorsus

Reptilia - Ceratopsidae

Taxonomy
Triceratops prorsus was named by Marsh (1890). Its type specimen is YPM 1822, a skull, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Middle Fork, Dry Creek, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone/sandstone in the Laramie Formation of Wyoming.

It was recombined as Agathaumas prorsus by Lydekker (1893); it was synonymized subjectively with Triceratops horridus by Ostrom and Wellnhofer (1986), Dodson and Currie (1990), Ostrom and Wellnhofer (1990), Lehman (1990), Lehman (1998) and Dodson et al. (2004).
