Trachoecus was named by Kittl (1894) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn]. Its type is Trachoecus gemmellaroi.

The aperture has a simple outer lip and a thickened inner lip forming a slit with the columella. A short anterior apertural notch is present. The protoconch is smooth and of tofanellid type. |
