Natica olla was named by De Serres (1829) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Boreal, Paratethys, Mediterranean, Atlantic.].

It was recombined as Polynices olla by Gilbert (1952); it was recombined as Polinices (Neverita) olla by Hölzl (1962); it was recombined as Neverita olla by Harzhauser (2004).
