Taxonomy
Fusus laxecarinatus was named by Michelotti (1861) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Mediterranean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cuma laxecarinatus by Bellardi (1882); it was recombined as Melongena laxecarinatus by Rovereto (1900) and Harzhauser (2004).
