Trochocerithium was named by Cossmann and Sacco (1896) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than R Sepkoski's reference number: 914]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Campanilinae by MacNeil (1960); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
