Cytherea ovalina was named by Deshayes (1857) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Paradione.
It was recombined as Macrocallista (Paradione) ovalina by Woodring (1982); it was recombined as Pitar (Chionella) ovalina by Le Renard and Pacaud (1995).
