Taxonomy
Pecten subtripartitus was named by d'Archiac (1847) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene-Oligocene; Mediterranean.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Chlamys biarritzensis subtripartita by Wozny (1977); it was recombined as Chlamys (Aequipecten) subtripartita by Karagiuleva (1964) and Islamoglu and Taner (1995).
