Taxonomy
Indosiren javanense was named by von Koenigswald (1952). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Njalindung, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in Indonesia. It is the type species of Indosiren.

It was corrected as Indosiren javanensis by Domning (1996).
