Cassidulina was named by d'Orbigny (1826) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani R]. It is extant. It was considered unknown by d'Orbigny (1826).

It was assigned to Cassidulininae by d'Orbigny (1826) and Cushman (1927); to Cassidulinidae by Wienrich (1997); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).
