Taxonomy
Sthenodonta jelli was named by Pojeta and Gilbert-Tomlinson (1977). Its type specimen is CPC 15510, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Locality 26. HY 717*. Briscoe Tent Hill, which is in a Darriwilian marine siltstone/dolomite in the Stokes Siltstone Formation of Australia.
