Trochus adansoni was named by Payraudeau (1827) [DISTRIBUTION: Recent; Mediterranean.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Gibbula (Colliculus).

It was recombined as Gibbula (Colliculus) adansoni by Bucquoy et al. (1898); it was recombined as Colliculus adansoni by Lozouet et al. (2001).
