Glirodon was named by Engelmann and Callison (1999). Its type is Glirodon grandis.
It was assigned to Plagiaulacoidea by Engelmann and Callison (1999); to Plagiaulacida by Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004); and to Multituberculata by Weaver et al. (2020).
