Meketichoffatia was named by Hahn (1993). Its type is Meketichoffatia krausei.
It was assigned to Paulchoffatiinae by Hahn (1993), Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004); and to Paulchoffatiidae by Hahn and Hahn (1998) and Yuan et al. (2013).
