Iberodon was named by Hahn and Hahn (1999). Its type is Iberodon quadrituberculatus.
It was assigned to Pinheirodontidae by Hahn and Hahn (1999), Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
