Delphinula granulosa was named by Grateloup (1828) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Miocene; France.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Cirsochilus granulosus by Cossmann and Peyrot (1917); it was recombined as Homalopoma granulosa by Lozouet et al. (2001).
