Capulus parmophoroides was named by Cossmann (1885) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Paris Basin.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Plesiothyreus.
It was recombined as Plesiothyreus parmophoroides by Lozouet et al. (2001).
